Entry requirements

You will usually require level 2 English or equivalent. An initial assessment of your skills will be made to determine your suitability for the course.Grade C or above in a GCSE English course is a frequent requirement of employers and an entry requirement for many institutions of higher education.

This qualification enables you to develop skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. It involves practising Level 2 English skills in class and homework towards completing the following units.

MaTReC offers a range of English and Maths courses which are designed to improve your confidence
and give you the skills you need to get on in life.

These courses will develop your reading, writing and number skills which in turn will boost your CV and open up opportunities for further study.

We offer FREE Functional Skills qualifications and welcome people of all abilities, from beginners to level 2. The length of the Functional Skills course/s depend on you. An assessment and chat with your tutor will identify your starting point. Your tutor will be able to recommend suitable books that could support you in your learning.
